Have your say: URBAN VILLAGES SURVEY

Colin Glen Trust are seeking funding from central government in Northern Ireland to build a new Visitors Centre in Colin Glen Forest Park, West Belfast. 

The new Centre will be located at the top of Colin Glen Forest Park with stunning views over Belfast. The Centre would be a welcome point for visitors, complementing the new outdoor activities of the Forest Park such as the Downhill Toboggan and Zip Line. It is proposed that there will be overnight accommodation in the centre and facilities for camping and caravanning.

Urban Villages are seeking your opinion to understand the need in the community for this project. The survey should take around 5 minutes to complete. Click here to take part in the survey.

job opening: Team leader – prince’s trust programme

Colin Glen is currently recruiting for a Team Leader to support The Trust’s mission ‘to help disadvantaged young people in the UK to change their lives and get into work, education or training’.

It is a full-time 12-week personal development programme for 16 – 25 year old’s largely delivered through community work. Its primary aim is to build confidence, motivation and skills to help unemployed young people return to education or move into employment.

Colin Glen appoints Brown’s ‘award-winning fish and chips’ as New catering partner

Colin Glen is delighted to announce Brown’s ‘award-winning fish and chips‘ as our new catering partner. The new partnership will see Brown’s and Colin Glen working in collaboration to provide quality catering options to visiting groups and parties who can now enjoy a range of exciting packages for birthday parties, schools, hens and stags as well as corporate groups.

Brown’s fish and chips is operating over 10 years and has a won a number of awards including ‘Best in the West‘ Fish Supper and Takeaway as well as ‘Winner of Best Fish & Chip Shop in Belfast’ at the Northern Ireland Chip Shop Awards. It has also been awarded ‘Local Business of the Year’ from Belfast Media Group.

COVID 19 UPDATE: 29/08/2020

LATEST: The Forest Park building, activities and Monas Café are opened for business. Appropriate measures have been put in place including social distancing, signage and hand sanitizers throughout the building.

We are delighted to announce that Adventure Birthday Party bookings are now available at Colin Glen.

Forest Park

Gruffalo Guided Walks, SKYTrek, Archery, Lasertag and birthday parties are now open for bookings. Our experienced team have put in place several adjustments to ensure our customer and staff safety. These adjustments are outlined below:

Gruffalo Guided Walks

  1. In addition to the facilitator, the maximum number per group is 25, inclusive of children and adults.
  2. The facilitator will greet parents and children at building and escort to the education room for the short story before commencing in the walk.
  3. Social distancing measures are in place and should be adhered to throughout the activity, families are reminded to stay in their ‘bubbles’.
  4. Customers are required to use hand sanitiser units provided before and after activity.
  5. Toilet facilities are available to customers.

SKYTrek ;

  1. In addition to instructors, a maximum of 30 will be permitted in the Skytrek area, split into groups.
  2. Instructors will greet customers at building and escort to the Skytrek area.
  3. Social distancing measures are in place and should be adhered to throughout the activity.
  4. The activity brief and kitting up will be conducted outside.
  5. Depending on numbers, instructors will divide customers across activity areas.
  6. All kit; lanyards, helmets, harnesses and ropes will be quarantined prior to use for 72h and steam sanitised after use.
  7. Customers are encouraged to use hand sanitiser units provided before and after activity.
  8. Toilet facilities are available to customers.
  9. Customers will be required to wear disposable gloves provided, face masks are at the customer’s discretion.
  10. Disposable gloves should be disposed of correctly in the bins provided.

Archery;

  1. In addition to the instructor, a maximum of 12 will be permitted in the Archery area, split into groups.
  2. Instructors will greet customers at building and escort to the archery area.
  3. All activity brief will be conducted outside.
  4. Social distancing measures are in place and should be adhered to throughout the activity.
  5. Customers are encouraged to use hand sanitiser units provided before and after activity.
  6. Toilet facilities will be available to customers.
  7. Customers will be required to wear disposable gloves provided, face masks are at the customer’s discretion.
  8. Bows and arrows will be sanitised after each activity session.
  9. Disposable gloves should be disposed of correctly in the bins provided.

Laser tag update;

  1. In addition to the instructor, a maximum of 16 will be permitted in the laser tag area, split into groups.
  2. Instructors will greet customers at building and escort to the Laser Tag area.
  3. The activity brief and kitting up will be conducted outside.
  4. Social distancing measures are in place and should be adhered to throughout the activity.
  5. Customers are encouraged to use hand sanitiser units provided before and after activity.
  6. Toilet facilities will be available to customers.
  7. Customers will be required to wear disposable gloves provided, face masks are at the customer’s discretion.
  8. Laser Tag guns and all other equipment provided will be sanitised after each activity session
  9. Disposable gloves should be disposed of correctly in the bins provided

Birthday Parties:

We are offering birthday parties in the activities outlined above with the same adjustments in place. With the birthday parties we will also be supplying food from Browns Fish and Chip Shop, with each child being given their own individual meal box.

Leisure

Outdoor Pitches

Pitches are now available to book, our experienced team have ensured that appropriate adjustments are in place and will be managed in line with guidance from the IFA published on 8 June 2020 which has been informed by NI Executive. The adjustments include:

  • Pitches must be booked online at www.colinglen.org
  • Players and coaches must remain in their car until the pitch area is clear.
  • A member of staff will sanitise the goal posts between bookings.
  • Teams/players must supply their own equipment.
  • Only players and coaches are permitted to enter the playing area.
  • Players and coaches must use the sanitiser provided before entering the playing area.
  • Parents/viewers must not enter the playing area or pitch corridor.
  • Strictly no congregating pre/post-training session.
  • Players and coaches must vacate the pitch immediately after use.
  • Toilets are available at reception.

Golf Course and Driving Range:

Our experienced team has ensured that the necessary adjustments are in place in line with the updated GUI protocol (phase 2) published on 4th June 2020, these include:

  • The golf course is open to members and visitors.

  • 4 balls are now permitted on the golf course.

  • We will only be accommodating two people per driving range bay.
  • Where possible please utilise the cashless option when paying.
  • Social distancing measures have been installed to ensure the safety of our staff and customers.
  • Hand sanitising dispensers have been installed in our 15 driving range bays and in all public areas.

Our Forest Park and Leisure buildings and offices remain closed following Government advice in relation to Covid-19 for the foreseeable future

Colin Glen Forest Park remains open to the general public, however this is on the premise that people only use the park within government guidelines. This includes the continued practice of social distancing and that the park is used by local people within walking distance. People should not be travelling by car to the Forest Park unless absolutely necessary

Colin Glen opens world class sports facility in Belfast

Colin Glen has just launched a new 3G indoor dome, the first of its kind in Belfast. The multi-sports facility is just one of a number of sports facilities located at its Blacks Road leisure facility, including Ireland’s first ever Toptracer Driving Range, a 9 hole Golf Course, gym and outdoor 3G pitches.

The Dome, which officially opened on Monday 10th February will see Colin Glen operating one of the largest covered pitches in Ireland, catering for Soccer, GAA, Rugby and Multisports.

Bookings can be made for either one-off pitch hire or block bookings to ensure your team or group get the slot you want on a weekly basis.

7-a-side half pitch hire (standard booking)

  • Peak: £50
  • Off-peak: £35

9-a-side full pitch hire (standard booking)

  • Peak: £80
  • Off-peak: £50

Dome opening hours:

  • Mon-Fri: 9am – 10pm
  • Saturday: 9am – 9pm
